Savior at the door

From the begin of time the Lord has communicated with his children in two ways the first directly with an individial throught the promptings of the spirit, and the other through a prophet. (Amos 3:7) This is the means that I wish to expound on at this time. The Lord has always give a prophet through begin of time to the present to give his will The Lords prophet on the earth holds the key for an individual to be exalted in the kingdom of heaven.

After the Christ was crusified it didn't take long for the people of that day to change the gospel, and doctrine that he taught because they didn't like it or thought it, or maybe it was to hard to live, or maybe it just was fashionable to live his teaching. Or maybe the government mandated such changes. So they started to change it, since the bible was not ready available for the people to read and have knowledge of these change. So they had to rely on what was being taught from the pulpit by the flesh thus came the dark ages.

With the invention of the printing press came the reformation of the gospel because the now all could read the bible and could see that the teaching were not the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thus sprang up all kinds of different religions, all crying, low we have truth. And yes they did have some of the truth gospel of Jesus Christ, some baptized by immersion, some spake in tongues, etc. but none of them had the fullness of the gospel that is require for exaltation.

Thus there need to be a restoration of the fullness of the gospel for the children of God to be able to receive exaltation. God through Joseph Smith restored the fullness of the gospel in the spring of 1830. Now this was the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he taught and lived it on the earth 2000 years ago.

But there was many people again that found the gospel of Jesus Christ hard to live. Whither by the pressures of the world, family, friends, etc. They either left the teaching to form there own church with just the treaching that they could live, abandoning some of the fullness of the gospel. Then there were those that went to the prophet seers and saying "See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceit: Isaiah 30:10 The following was taken from the talk Profile of a Prophet given by Elder Hugh B. Brown, October 4, 1955, Then we proceeded to prepare what I may call a "profile of a prophet." We agreed between us that the following characteristics should distinguish a man who claims to be a prophet:

A. He will boldly claim that God had spoken to him.

B. Any man so claiming would be a dignified man with a dignified message--no table-jumping, no whisperings from the dead, no clairvoyance, but an intelligent statement of truth.

C. Any man claiming to be a prophet of God would declare his message without any fear and without making any weak concessions to public opinion.

D. If he were speaking for God he could not make concessions, although what he taught would be new and contrary to the accepted teachings of the day. A prophet bears witness to what he has seen and heard and seldoms tries to make a case by argument. His message and not himself is important.

E. Such a man would speak in the name of the Lord saying, thus saith the Lord," as did Moses, Joshua and others.

F. Such a man would predict future events in the name of the Lord, and they would come to pass, as did Isaiah and Ezekiel.

G. He would have not only an important message for his time, but often a message for all future time, such as Daniel, Jeremiah, and others had.

H. He would have courage and faith enough to endure persecution and to give his life, if need be, for the cause he espoused, such as Peter, James, Paul, and others did.

I. Such a man would denounce wickedness fearlessly - He would generally be rejected or persecuted by the people of his time, but later generations and descendants of his persecutors would build monuments in his honor.

J. He would be able to do superhuman things--things that no man could do without God's help. The consequence or result of his message and work would be convincing evidence of his prophetic calling. "By their fruits ye shall know them."

K. His teachings would be in strict conformity with scripture and his words and his writings would become scripture. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (II Peter 1:21 .)

Now this is the last dispsation of time and the gospel has been restorde for the last time
